Team for Kids

NYRR's Team for Kids was a very big team this year: 1,450 ING New York City Marathon 2011 entrants ran for the charity, and their total fundraising effort will reach $4 million—one of the biggest among the race's 210 official charities this year. TFK supports NYRR Youth and Community Services, whose mission is to establish running-based programs for children in underserved communities. Team members get structured coaching, team workouts, race-day perks like a team bus to the start, a special warm-up tent, support all along the course from their coaches (and the kids!), and a reunion area at the finish—but above all, they get the satisfaction of having run for much more than a time or a place.
