ING Runner's Nation Pace Teams Powered by Timex
Whether you're new to the 26.2-mile distance or a marathon veteran, you can join a free ING Runner's Nation Pace Team Powered by Timex for help with running a steady pace and achieving your race-day time goal. Each pace team leader is a seasoned and reliable marathoner who will offer coaching and support throughout the race.
Pace teams will be located at each of the three starts in the corrals associated with the desired finish times. Goal finish times available are 3:15, 3:30, 3:40, 3:50, 4:00, 4:10, 4:20, 4:30, 4:40, 4:50, 5:00, 5:15, and 5:30.

Pace team leaders will run the marathon at an even pace, meaning that every mile will be run in approximately the same amount of time. The leaders will reach the half-marathon mark within two minutes (plus or minus) of the goal pace for the projected finishing time, and will finish the marathon no more than two minutes faster than the goal time, based on tag time. Runners will be encouraged to spread out to avoid overcrowding. As long as they keep their leader's balloon in sight, they will remain on pace.
Find out more at the ING Runner's Nation Pace Team Powered by Timex booth at the expo (November 3-5). Make sure to stop by early to receive a free ING Runner's Nation Pace Team Powered by Timex back bib and pace band (distributed on a first-come, first-served basis). Team leaders will be available at booth to answer questions and offer advice about proper pacing. Pace team participation is free to all marathon entrants, though runners may only join a pace team for a finish time as fast as allowed based on their race number (assigned corral).
On race day, ING Runner's Nation Pace Team Powered by Timex members will assemble with their team leader in the staging area at Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island. Team leaders will wear "ING Runner's Nation Pace Team Powered by Timex Leader" shirts and carry signs color-coded to their start and balloons printed with their finish time.
