NYRR and Crowdrise
Congratulations to Crowdrise Contest Winner Elizabeth Russell!
Elizabeth ran the NYC Half 2012 and helped raise critical funds for one of NYRR's official charity groups, Think Pink Rocks. Elizabeth, you rock! Here's Elizabeth's inspiring story:
This year, I made it a personal goal to run all of the NYRR half-marathons in New York City. I have been living in New York for a little over a year, and still haven't been to all five boroughs. I thought that running half-marathons throughout New York City would allow me to tour the city in a fun and unique way. When I signed up for the NYC Half, I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to raise money and awareness for a meaningful cause. I chose to run with Think Pink Rocks, an organization that supports breast cancer research and early detection treatment. Breast cancer runs in my family, so supporting Think Pink Rocks was very important to me. I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to run for such a wonderful cause, and have the support of friends and family cheering me on! I can't wait for the next race!
Let’s Raise More Than $1 Million A Mile
We've partnered with Edward Norton's fundraising site, Crowdrise, to raise more than $26.2 million this year and have the most fun ever while we do it.
Check out Edward Norton, Curtis Granderson, Ethan Zohn, Meb and Mary Wittenberg.
In the past, the ING New York City Marathon has raised an amazing amount of money for charity with only a few thousand runners fundraising. Imagine the impact we'll have when the entire running community comes together to get involved. That day is here. There are no minimums or requirements and all of the money you raise rolls up into the total amount raised for the marathon.
Go here to fundraise with an official ING NYC Marathon charity or start your own fundraiser for any of the 1.6 million charities on Crowdrise. Either way, you'll have your own fundraising page in about a minute and all the money you raise counts toward the goal.
